Privacy
Nothing personal leaves your phone.
Breathfirst has no account, no server that stores your data, no ads and no trackers. This page explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- No account. You open the app and breathe. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No backend for your data. Your sessions, settings and check-ins stay on your phone.
- Anonymous counts, only if you say yes. If you turn on “Share anonymous counts”, we receive daily totals like “12 pauses finished”, which setup steps people complete, and roughly how long ago the app was installed (“a week”). Never text, never app names, nothing that identifies you. They're sent once a day to our own small counts service on Cloudflare, which keeps only the totals: no IP address, no device ID, no request logs. It’s off unless you choose it, and you can turn it off anytime.
- No ads, no trackers, no analytics SDKs. Free, no subscription.
- Never your words. We don't store a single thing you write.
- Never your apps. If you name an app in a Shortcut, that name stays on your phone. It's never sent to us.
What stays on your phone
To show you things like “You made room 4 times this week,” the app keeps a small history on your device only:
- Sessions: which moment you chose, the breathing pattern and pace, how long you planned and how long you breathed, whether eyes-closed mode was on, what opened the session (for example a widget), what you chose at the end, and when.
- Check-ins: your answer to the occasional “Did that help?” question.
- Settings: your preferences, such as haptic strength, pace, voice and sound, and the times of any daily nudges.
- App-open pauses (iPhone): if you choose “Keep going” or “Pause until tomorrow”, the app name you typed into your Shortcut and a time are stored in a shared space on your phone, so the Shortcut can let you through for a while without opening Breathfirst again.
This data never leaves your phone. It is included in your device's own encrypted backups if you use them. You can erase it anytime in Settings → Delete all data, and deleting the app deletes it too.
What we never collect
- Messages, replies or drafts. “Reply later” only sets a reminder; it does not store what you were going to say.
- Which apps you use or pause. App-open pauses run through your phone's own Shortcuts app. Breathfirst only receives the app name you typed into the Shortcut, uses it on your phone, and never sends it anywhere.
- Your name, email, contacts, location or advertising identifiers.
Permissions
Notifications (optional)
Only used if you ask for a “Reply later” reminder or turn on a daily nudge. Both are scheduled locally on your phone; no push server is involved.
Haptics, sound and voice
Used to guide your breathing. The voice guide plays recorded clips. Breathfirst never uses your microphone and doesn't ask for it.
This website
This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. The 30-second web pause runs entirely in your browser. When you tap “Send a pause,” your device's own share sheet opens; we don't see who you send it to.
Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard technical request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We don't use it to identify you.
Your rights
Because your history and settings never leave your phone, you already hold all of it: you can see it in the app and erase it with Settings → Delete all data. The optional anonymous counts can't be linked back to you, so there's nothing on our side to look up, export or delete. You can stop sending them anytime by turning off “Share anonymous counts”.
If you're in the EU, UK or another region with data protection laws, you can still write to us with any request or question, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Breathfirst doesn't collect personal data from anyone, including children. It's rated for all ages, and the anonymous counts are off unless someone turns them on.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change what the app does with data, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships. We won't start collecting personal data without asking you in the app first.
